Royal Brunei Airlines has named a new chief executive to replace the outgoing CEO and deputy chairman Dermot Mannion.

Chief commercial and planning officer Karam Chand takes over as CEO and has more than 20 years experience in aviation.

He held senior positions with several airlines including Virgin Australia and Fiji Airways.

"I am honoured and humbled by the appointment and for the trust and faith the Board has placed in me. We have tremendous opportunities ahead of us and with the strong legacy left by Dermot we are in a good position to fly the flag higher," Chand said.

Mannion leaves Royal Brunei after completing his five year term of office.
