Royal family seeks new travel director

Friday, 28 Nov, 2019 0

Buckingham Palace is searching for a new director of travel to organise trips for the royal family.

The advert says applicants must have proven leadership and management skills, good communication skills and the ability to analyse complex situations.

It adds: "You will be required to ensure planning and procedures are highly effective, researching and negotiating value for money contracts and options for travel, while understanding and recommending best industry practice in risk and safety management."

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were recently criticised in the media for taking four private jet journeys in 11 days, despite their views on tackling climate change and supporting the environment.

The palace says the successful candidate will have overall responsibility for organising air travel and overseeing the operations of the Queen’s helicopter, scheduled train services and the royal train.

The role involves working 37.5 hours a week, but a salary has not been indicated on the advert.
The closing date for submissions is December 20.
