Royal Olympic Cruises appoints new md
Royal Olympic Cruises has appointed Colin Hetherington to the role of Managing Director (UK). He replaces Vic Howlett who had retired from the company.
Mr Hetherington moves from the west of Ireland where he has spent the last 12 months as Chief Executive overseeing the merger and integration of port companies on the Shannon Estuary. He shipping and travel industry experience includes previous jobs with the Thomas Cook Group, Stena Line and P&O/Princess Cruises.
Commenting on his appointment, Mr Hetherington said: “I aim to further develop Royal Olympic Cruises’ presence in the UK market and hope to continue, if not exceed, the considerable growth we have achieved in UK passenger carryings over the last two years.
“I am also looking forward to the possibility of introducing Royal Olympic’s second newbuild, the Olympia Explorer, to the trade in a UK showcase visit this spring.”
