Rural areas top demand for Spain
Spain is experiencing a surge in demand, with rural areas leading the way.
Holiday rental specialist Spain-holiday.com, reports demand is up by 2,000% in some areas, such as Manresa, just outside Barcelona and Cunit, the most northerly town on the Costa Dorada.
Chief executive Claus Sørensen, said: "Demand is up across the board but there is no doubt that rural areas have benefited the most.
"We have seen a huge growth in demand over the past year for fincas, masias and farmhouses in Catalonia, Galicia, Tarragona and just inland from Alicante – most of them rural spots, with some areas recording increases in enquiries of up to 2,000% year on year."
Also performing well are Hondon de las Nieves, Alicante, up 700%, and Baiona, Galicia – a favourite holiday destination of the Spanish themselves – up 466%.
