Ryanair buys five new aircraft
Ryanair has bought five new Boeing aircraft, to be delivered from early summer 2015.
Four of the new Boeing 737-800s will join the fleet in time for the summer peak, the fifth will arrive in February 2016.
This latest deal puts the total number of new Boeings ordered by Ryanair at 180 and boosts the value of its order to over $16 billion.
Ryanair said the five additional aircraft would enable it to open more routes and offer increased frequencies on existing services next summer.
Chief executive Michael O’Leary said: "These new Boeing aircraft enable Ryanair to keep the fleet average age below five years, while providing our customers with unmatched punctuality, reliability and an improved customer experience.
"Now that we have four more aircraft (21 in total) for summer 2015, Ryanair will offer more new routes and increased frequencies to more customers than ever before."
Boeing said Ryanair was now the largest 737-800 customer in the world.
