Ryanair cuts Edinburgh and Belfast flights

Ryanair is slashing flights from London to Edinburgh and Stansted this summer.

From early June, it will reduce its four flights a day service between Stansted and Edinburgh (above) to just four flights a week.

There will be no flights at all on the route from Monday to Wednesday.

The airline will also reduce its frequency on the Stansted to Belfast route in June from up to three flights a day at the moment to just four a week, two on Fridays and two on Sundays.

The Independent suggest that Ryanair might have axed the fligths due to the grounding of the Boeing 737 MAX aircraft following two fatal crashes in Ethiopia and Indonesia.

Ryanair has ordered 135 of the aircraft and had expected to take delivery of the first of the MAX jets this month. However, it is not known if or when aviation authorities around the world will allow the aircraft to fly again.

Ryanair said last month that it would not be affected by the decision to ground MAX aircraft last month, after the crash of an Ethiopian Airlines’ flight.

Boeing is still trying to fix the problem that caused the pilots of both the Ethiopian Airlines and Lion Air flight to lose control of the aircraft.
