Ryanair to open new Tirana Airport base
Ryanair plans to open a new base in Albania.
It will open a new Tirana Airport base with three B737-800 aircraft.
This represents a $300m investment it says with about 100 new jobs for pilots and cabin crew.
The new base next year will expand its market share in Albania, with over 450 weekly flights on 33 routes starting from the summer.
It has earmarked 10 new routes to Birmingham, Dublin, Milan, Malta, Naples, Pescara, Poznan, Trieste, Turin, and Verona, as well as increased frequencies on nine existing routes.
These include Bari, London, Prague, Stockholm, and Warsaw.
It expects Albania passenger traffic to grow to four million annually.
Ryanair says it will continue investing in Albania with more new routes and more based aircraft there.
To celebrate the expansion, Ryanair just announced a three-day seat sale for travel in October and November available at ryanair.com.
Ryanair’s CEO Michael O’Leary said: “Since launching our first Albania flights in Nov 2023, Ryanair has worked closely with our partners in Tirana Airport to deliver ambitious growth, which will now see Ryanair’s traffic grow to over four million passengers in 2026.”
Tirana Airport’s COO, Piervittorio Farabbi added: “Starting next summer season, there will be more opportunities to explore the world from Tirana and to expose touristic Albania to more countries.”
