SAA puts mountain gorillas on route map
South African Airways (SAA) and RwandAir, the national carrier of Rwanda, have agreed a bilateral codeshare for operations between Johannesburg and Kigali.
SAA’s country manager for Australasia, Tim Clyde-Smith, said the new codeshare flight would operate daily each way between the two countries to meet strong demand for tourists wanting to visit Rwanda.
"Kigali is the gateway to one of the world’s last true natural tourism frontiers," he said.
"We have seen a steady rise in the level of inquiry from Australians in travelling to Rwanda which has prolific wildlife, including the largest surviving population of mountain gorillas."
The new arrangement means reservations and ticketing are now in SAA and RwandAir’s systems.
