Sabre adds no-frills carriers

Tuesday, 26 Aug, 2004 0

A range of European no-frills airlines are to be bookable via Sabre in a deal between the GDS and Dolphin Dynamics.

Up to 50 budget, web-only and regional airlines, including easyJet, Rynair and bmibaby, will be available through the Turbo-Sabre booking tool.

The no-frills airline content from Dolphin’s Flightscanner will complement a range of web-only fares available in the GDS from more than 30 traditional carriers.

Although no-frills seats are being made available through third-party technology, Sabre strategic marketing and sales vice-president Stuart Nassos said the GDS was talking to budget airline about working together directly.

Separately, Sabre Airline Solutions revealed the acquisition of Stockholm-based European flight operations technology supplier RM Rocade for an undisclosed sum. More than 60 small to medium sized airlines use RM Rocade technology for commercial planning, crew management and operations control, including BA Citiexpress, MyTravel, FlyDBA, Cyprus Airways, Austrian Airlines and Icelandair.
