Sabre agents worldwide now benefit from real-time access to Sixt

Sabre Connected travel agencies now have real-time access, through a simple one-step process, to rates and availability information from Sixt, the global car hire company. As part of a new agreement with Sabre Travel Network, Sixt will benefit from a simplified, efficient process for providing reservations information to the Sabre GDS (Global Distribution System).

The new agreement with Sixt is for the highest level of participation in the Sabre GDS.

Beverley Oliver, Sixt’s UK sales head, said: “Connecting at Sabre’s highest level will further benefit travel agents, by giving them quick and easy access to the information they need. It will also enable us to automate the process by which we input data, as the information we enter in our own reservation system will automatically appear in the Sabre GDS. We are committed to offering our travel partners the highest levels of support in terms of both service delivery and technology. Our investment in this upgrade is a clear demonstration of that commitment.”

Dean Bibb, Sabre Travel Network’s vice-president of supplier relations and joint ventures, EMEA, said: “Sabre Travel Network is committed to offering car companies increased efficiencies and greater revenue opportunities, while at the same time providing a better, reliable and more cost effective service to their customers. Sixt’s upgraded connectivity will streamline the car rental booking and selling process, allowing agents to spend more time doing what they do best – advising their customers.”

Last year Sabre Travel Network announced the launch of the first GeoShopping feature offered through a GDS, enabling travel agents to quickly and easily search for and shop off-airport car rental locations from specific geographic search points, such as rail station and hotel, in a single transaction. The resulting displays give travel agents information on car rental companies and their addresses, car types, rates, approximate prices, and distance/direction from the search point.

This agreement is another example of Sabre’s leadership in providing the most content of any travel provider in the world and illustrates Sabre’s drive to provide comprehensive offerings for corporate and leisure travel agencies.
