Sabre apologises for computer glitch
Sabre has apologised to customers after an unexplained computer outage meant they were unable to access its airline reservation system for a couple of hours last night.
The outage affected up to 400 airlines including American Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Qantas Virgin Australia and Virgin America.
Several airlines’ websites were unable to take reservations and they had to check in passengers manually. Some were unable to identify those who had checked in online and in some cases gate agents had to handwrite boarding passes.
Sabre said the systems have been restored and everyone is now able to connect to Sabre.
