Saint Lucia celebrates record breaking tourism growth
Saint Lucia tourism had a banner year in 2017 with total visitor arrivals reaching an all-time high of 1,105,541.
In doing so, it also topped overall tourism growth rate among the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) member countries with a 11% year-over-year rise.
Cruise tourism was up 14%, adding 81,000 visitors despite the eight-month closure of the Pointe Seraphine Berth 1 while stay over arrivals reached more than 386,000.
"The tourism industry continues to be an incredibly important and vital part of the Saint Lucian economy. We are happy with the levels of growth witnessed and as we continue our marketing efforts, we as well look to maximizing the impact of tourism on our economy," said minister of tourism information and broadcasting Dominic Fedee.
The Association of British Travel Agents selected Saint Lucia as one of the top 12 destinations for 2018 in its annual Travel Trends Report.
