.Samoa leisure travel up more than 20% this year
Samoa leisure tourism was up more than 20% from January to May 2025, rising from 21,962 to 26,806.
The holiday travel segment holds the largest market share of visitors at 44%, according to the latest data for the first five months of 2025.
Occupancy rates for most deluxe and standard resorts were notably high during these months.
Tanoa Tusitala Hotel recorded an average occupancy rate of 70.4% from January to May.
“We continue to focus on maintaining service quality and value while adapting to the market where possible. It is encouraging to see the 22.1% increase in holiday travellers,” said Operations Manager, Roneeta Devi.
Visiting Families and Friends (VFR) and those visiting for business also increased by 12.2% and 3.9% respectively compared to 2024.
The New Zealand market remains strong, with the main markets recording the majority of visitors for the quarter.
