San Antonio Airport closed after ‘credible’ bomb threat
San Antonio Airport was closed yesterday afternoon after officials said an unidentified caller phoned in a bomb threat.
The caller said ‘packages’ containing explosives had been left in three vehicles in the airport’s short term parking lot. Officials also said the caller made ‘non-specific’ threats for each terminal.
Passengers were herded out of the terminals and onto the tarmac while law enforcement and bomb experts combed the area. Vehicles that initially tested ‘positive’ for possible bomb material with dogs were then cordoned off and finally removed from the area.
Bomb experts determined that there were actually no explosives in the car and that the initial ‘hits’ that the dogs had found had been false positives.
Passengers reported an orderly and panic-free evacuation. The airport was given an ‘all clear’ at about 5 PM.
