Sandals confirms Tobago plans
Sandals Resorts International has signed a memorandum of understanding to develop a Sandals and a Beaches resort on Tobago.
Chairman Butch Stewart said the group has been interested in having a resort on the island for 14 years.
"It’s an incredible island with warm people and they have a lovely hotel community. We have been very comfortable dealing with the various officials on the island and look forward to what the future holds," he said.
The signing was expected to happen earlier this year but was reportedly put on hold following Hurricane Irma.
The Tobago Hotel and Tourism Association told Caribbean online newspaper Caribbean360 that the ‘majority’ of its members welcome the news because of the additional flights and increased destination marketing it would provide.
