Sandals Resorts defends agents

Sandals Resorts has come to the defence of travel agents saying they are ‘critical’ to its success.

The all-inclusive operator said that contrary to recent reports predicting a decline in travel agency business, agents are its central source of distribution and it relies on agents to differentiate its brands to customers.

Karl Thompson, managing director of Sandals Resorts International, said: "We understand the importance that their hard work has on our continued success.

"In an attempt to make our product as travel agent friendly as possible and ensure agents can maximise their earning potential, we run the Sandals Luxury Stars scheme, regularly host familiarisation trips, provide comprehensive on-line training programmes, up-to-date product information and ample marketing collateral and support, to name a few.

"Agents are our central source of distribution, we have such a diverse product offering, even within the brands, that we depend on agents to communicate these differences to their clients and highlight the benefits of choosing a Sandals holiday."
