Santa Claus to Visit Amsterdam on 16th November
Santa Claus is to arrive in Amsterdam by sea from Madrid on 16th November. He’s to ride on a white charger and will be surrounded by 500 “Black Peter†servants and a Festive Parade with hundreds of marchers and 10 Marching Bands.
Children will swarm around the Black Peters who have handfuls of sweets and cookies to give them.
The parade will culminate with the mayor of Amsterdam welcoming the festive visitor. From now on while he’s in town, by tradition, Santa Claus (Saint Nicholas) is more important than any civic authority. Santa Claus’ arrival also heralds festive shopping and Christmas Markets until 5th December.
A special new promotional weekend has been launched by Amsterdam’s AmstelBotel to celebrate Santa Claus’ arrival. Making use of their new berth on the hip NDSM Quay, they have arranged a series of trips to enjoy the festive atmosphere in Amsterdam while Santa Claus is there and visit the Christmas Markets.
“We’re lucky to be in Amsterdam†Said Jolanda van den Beuken – AmstelBotel’s Reservation Manager “Santa Claus comes to us earlier than anybody else every year so we don’t have so long to wait. And he brings hundreds of Black Peters with him to help him give out sweets. People love going to the Christmas Markets, too and, while Santa Claus is in charge, we always have a good time!â€
Included in the Santa Claus trip’s promotional price is three nights accommodation with English buffet breakfast, details of Amsterdam Christmas offers and Amsterdam transport guide. Everything, in fact, for guests to enjoy taking part in one of the world’s loveliest Christmas Festivals! How much? From just UK£69, US$140, Euro85 per person.
The promotional trip is available from 14th November (the day before Santa Claus’ arrival) until 7th December (the day after St Nicholas Day – Santa Claus departure) Bookings can be made by contacting [email protected] tel +31 20 521 0350
