Sarawak bureau launches video, guide
KUCHING – The Sarawak Convention Bureau (SCB) has launched its first Meeting and Incentive Planners Guide together with a new meetings video commercial.
The guide contains 38 unique facts about Sarawak which SCB chief executive Jill Henry hopes will encourage meeting planners “to try somewhere different and unique for their next meeting”.
The 140-page guide includes information on Sarawak, the largest state of Malaysia situated on the exotic island of Borneo, along with information on the Bureau’s services to meeting planners, Sarawak’s meeting credentials, top incentive ideas and details of potential convention venues and industry service providers.
Venue details include information on the new Borneo Convention Centre Kuching, due to open mid-2009.
The four-minute commercial promoting Sarawak as a meetings destination avoids the split second grabs of scenery, festivals and food.
“For our first meetings specific production we chose to produce a story-lined TV commercial adding a touch of tongue-in-cheek humour,” said Henry.
“The story line features Sarawak’s Iban community and sets up a climatic meeting between overseas business visitors and our unique local hosts.
“It is a slightly surreal and visually stunning piece that captures the genuine warmth of the Sarawak people and introduces the viewer to its fast-growing capital city, Kuching.”
The planers guide is currently available in DVD format and can be downloaded from the Bureau’s website at www.sarawakcb.com
