SAS gets passengers online
SAS has become the latest carrier to offer onboard internet access for passengers.
Lufthansa began trials of an internet service earlier this year and now the
Scandinavian carrier has made it available on all long-haul flights to the US
and Asia.
SAS has over 45 flights daily from various airports in the UK and Ireland and plans to roll the service out further if it proves popular.
Passengers pay $29.95 (around £17) for internet access for an entire flight or $9.95 (around £6) for 30 minutes plus 25 cents (around 15p) for each
additional minute.
The airline introduced the service after conducting a survey which revealed millions of stressed out Brits cannot relax on holiday because they are worried about their work.
SAS interviewed 1,500 people at the end of March and found 36% check their emails on holiday. Almost a third of those questioned said internet access on flights would be a bonus and they would use email if they
could.
