Scissors back in style for carry-ons
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is expected to soon announce that scissors and other sharp objects will be allowed in carry-on luggage.
The move comes amid an internal report by the TSA that screeners spend half of their time searching for cigarette lighters. The report also said screeners must open one out of every four bags to remove scissors.
Government officials say they are concerned about suicide bomb attacks. The new guidelines will enable screeners to spend more time on more serious threats, officials said.
