Scottish self-catering consolidation
Scottish holiday lettings agency Cottages & Castles has acquired Arran HideAways, the only dedicated self-catering agent on the Isle of Arran.
The deal has led to Cottages & Castles, run by the partners of property consultancy CKD Galbraith, adding 140 properties from Arran HideAways.
It claims that this makes the company the largest self-catering holiday lets company in Scotland, with more than 500 properties in its portfolio.
Arran HideAways has already secured 1,083 bookings for the period October 2008–October 2009 which equates to 1,114 weeks of accommodation occupancy.
This number is expected to increase as Cottages & Castles opens up each property to a wider market audience of potential holidaymakers.
Cottages & Castles manager Sue Bourne said: “Arran is very much a second home island and is a popular holiday destination with huge potential on a national and international level.
“Given the current economic downturn, coupled with more people holidaying at home, we believe Arran is set to become the place to holiday for 2009.â€
