SCS now has real time bookings

SCS Solars Computing Systems’ agreement with the TourTek Service Bureau system offers real time booking, among other benefits, according to Bob Wilson, SCI’s director of account development.

He told TravelMole:

“We’ve made a study of 8,000 tour operators in North America, and there’s less than 10% that have real time bookings.”

For tour operators, the new system offers “low monthly fees and a pay as you go basis,” he said.

Agents can now book in real time, but the system can also be used by consumers who can get a reference number and turn it over to an agent for booking.

SCS Solars is a provider of information management and electronic distribution solutions for the travel industry.

The company signed a contract with the TourTek Service Bureau system to expand their Online Travel Concierge business and manage its tour services.

In the past, Online was capable only of offering hotel content in New York City. This gives them the ability to sell dynamic packaging.

Mr Wilson said agents might also be interested in another SCS Solars initiative. That is the live release of Global Car Rentals net rates available from the travel agent web portal www.solarnet.biz.

Global Car Rentals specializes in the pre-paid longer term vacation market where a typical 10-20 day car rental would be $800 to $1500.

“When I was a travel agent, car rentals were always a problem with taxes, insurance and so on. With Global, agents can mark up their commission and get paid up front without having to wait,” Mr Wilson said.

Since the car rentals are pre-paid, Global passes along heavily discounted savings. Mr Wilson says most user agents are marking up the rates on a 10% commission basis.
