Seabourn’s latest ship Encore has been officially named in Singapore.

Godmother, British diva Sarah Brightman, christened the ship in time honoured fashion and Seabourn’s fourth ship has now embarked on its inaugural voyage, a 10-day journey through Indonesia.

It will spend the first half of 2017 cruising Asia, Australia and New Zealand before a summer season in the Mediterranean.

Seabourn president Rick Meadows was joined by Carnival Corp. CEO Arnold Donald and chairman Micky Arison.

"The launch of Seabourn Encore marks the start of a new era of ultra-luxury cruising. It marks a major step forward in terms of growth for our company," Meadows said.

The ship is based on the existing ‘Odyssey class’ but with an added deck and expanded public spaces, which were dreamed up by renowned hospitality designer Adam Tihany.

Also present was Michelin chef Thomas Keller who has a restaurant onboard.

Next up is sister ship Seabourn Ovation which is under construction and due for delivery in 2018.
