SeaFrance updates website
SeaFrance has given its website an overhaul to make it more user friendly for both consumers and agents.
The site http://www.seafrance.com has a dedicated section for agents which allows them to more easily identify the cheapest time to travel.
“It’s a bit like the low-cost airlines’ websites, in that there is more transparency. Rather than having to put in a date and keep trying, agents will be able to see immediately the best time to travel,” said a spokeswoman.
The website will also allow agents to book multiple ticket types and single leg fares.
For customers, SeaFrance has incorporated a ViaMichelin route planner into the site and the ‘whatsonwhen’ events section of the site has been extended to deliver not just Lille and Nord Pas de Calais guides, but also guides to Paris and Brussels.
The new website rewards loyal customers through its new ‘My Account’ section. This will enable passengers to manage and review their bookings and there are plans to offer special deals in the future.
SeaFrance has linked up with the RAC, which is offering up to 20% off European breakdown cover when travel is booked with SeaFrance, and A Place in the Sun Everything France magazine, which is giving SeaFrance customers 33% off subscriptions.
Managing director Robin Wilkins said: “SeaFrance has made a significant investment in our new bespoke reservations system and website, to ensure that our customers are given the best possible streamlined booking process.”
Nobody was available from SeaFrance to discuss how the online initiatives aimed at consumers would impact the ferry operator’s relationship with the travel trade.
