Second arrest made over cruise ship death
A second cruise guest has been arrested in connection with the death of a man on a Southampton cruise last weekend.
Hampshire Police say they are questioning another man on suspicion of manslaughter.
An ‘altercation’ took place just a couple of hours after the MSC Virtuosa left Southampton on a short cruise to Belgium.
The death occurred while still in UK waters.
James Messham, from Shoreham-by-Sea, West Sussex, was named as the victim.
A 57-year-old man from Exeter was arrested on suspicion of murder when the ship returned to Southampton.
He was later released on bail.
A spokesman said: “A 56-year-old man from Richmond, London, has been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and remains in custody at this time,” Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said.
“We remain keen to hear from anyone who was aboard the ship.”
Neither of the two men have been named.
Victim Messham operated a travelling show called ‘Messham’s Wall of Death.’
