See which hotel chain was rated worst in the UK…
Britannia Hotels has been rated the UK’s worst hotel chain in a survey by consumer champion Which?.
It’s the seventh year in a row that the group, which has 61 hotels, has come bottom of the survey of more than 40 hotel chains.
The research asked 8,197 adults – members of the Which? Connect panel and the public – to rate hotels on a range of criteria, including bed comfort, value for money, quality of food and overall cleanliness.~
Guests gave Britannia the lowest one-star ratings in almost every category including value for money and food and drink.
EasyHotel and Ibis Budget also performed badly while Premier Inn and Wetherspoon Hotels got the highest scores. Wetherspoon shared first place with Premier Inn, the reigning champion for the last four years.
"If you are looking for a cheap and cheerful stay in the centre of town you would be better off choosing the ever-reliable Premier Inn or a Wetherspoon Hotel, where even with paying extra for breakfast you can expect extraordinarily good value for money," said Rory Boland, Which? Travel Editor.
The consumer magazine said Britannia’s chief executive Alex Langsam had initially agreed to an interview to discuss the research but pulled out after he was sent an advance copy of the findings.
