Seoul Incheon ranked world’s best major airport

Seoul’s Incheon International Airport has taken the top spot in a poll of the world’s favourite airports.

A survey by Airports Council International found the South Korean air hub scored highest in the large airport category – handling over 40 million passengers a year.

In fact the top five airports in this category were all located in Asia.

Singapore Changi came second, followed by Beijing, Shanghai Pudong and Hong Kong.

Votes from 550,000 travellers were collected based on various criteria including ease of access, check-in, security, airport facilities, dining and retail at over 300 airports worldwide.

Incheon also came first overall as the best airport in Asia Pacific.

"Airports are more than simply points of departure and arrival," said Angela Gittens, Director General, ACI World.

"They are complex businesses in their own right. As such, a focus on serving the passenger has become increasingly important to ensuring success."

"At the end of the day, good business acumen comes down to a simple equation: better service, improved traffic and a healthier bottom line," Gittens added.
