SF taking a big bite for foodies
The San Francisco Convention & Visitors Bureau (SFCVB) has launched a new micro-site dedicated to the pursuit of things food-related.
The site at www.onlyinsanfrancisco.com/taste is in response to the growing number of tourists interested in food related attractions.
The new site includes San Francisco’s hottest restaurants, a calendar listing of food-related news and events, the history of San Francisco’s many food firsts, chef profiles, and a weekly insider’s blog by Marcia “the tablehopper” Gagliardi.
Visitors to the site can search the restaurants in the “Food†section by some unique characteristics – inspiring views, al fresco dining, brunch, dining adventures, award winners, and a taste of history – as well as by price, cuisine and neighborhood.
The “Drink†section links to wineries, tasting rooms, brew pubs and tap rooms.
“Foodies†may also subscribe to an e-newsletter and enter a sweepstakes to win a trip for two to San Francisco.
“The quality, quantity and variety of restaurants in the San Francisco Bay Area are some of the many reasons our city is renowned as a dining destination,†said Joe D’Alessandro, president and CEO, SFCVB. He added:
“San Francisco has been a culinary center since the 1849 gold rush attracted dining traditions from around the world. The city’s location – adjacent to abundant seafood, agriculture and wine regions – contributes to the creativity in the chef community.â€
