Shangri-La signs new Beijing hotel to tap Winter Olympics demand
Shangri-La Group is launching another hotel in China in time to meet demand for the 2022 Beijing Olympic Winter Games.
It has teamed up with Shougang Group to develop a new luxury property at Shougang Park in Beijing.
It is scheduled for a late 2021 opening and will be designated as an Official Hotel of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, hosting the Olympic event reception.
It is located in the central area of Shougang Park with views overlooking Shijingshan Hill and Qunming Lake.
The hotel is closely connected to the grand ski ramp of the Winter Olympics and the training centres for ice hockey, figure skating, speed skating and curling national teams.
The hotel’s design will be contemporary and incorporate various green concepts.
"Beijing continues to be a very important market for Shangri-La Group. We are committed to deepening our investment and to be part of Beijing’s renewed growth plans. The Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics will be a historic occasion for the host city and equally for us at Shangri-La as we open our doors to welcome the international sports community," said Hui Kuok, chairman of Shangri-La Group.
