Shark attack forces beach closure
A man is in hospital after being attacked by a shark off Manhattan Beach, southern California.
The Great White shark reportedly attacked the victim, named as Steven Robles, who was training with a group of long-distance swimmers, after it broke free from a fishing line.
Reports vary as to the size of the shark, with one saying it was 10ft long. Other reports estimate the shark was 6-7ft in length.
Robles, 40, suffered stomach and chest wounds.
There have been several sightings of Great Whites in the area over the last few weeks.
The beach was closed for several hours following the attack.
