Shark kills pensioner on tourist beach
A 77-year-old woman has been killed by a great white shark as she swam on a tourist beach in South Africa. Reports state that the 22-foot shark attacked Tyna Webb as she swam off Fish Hoek beach, near Cape Town; circling her three times before grabbing her and dragging her beneath the waves. According to the Daily Mail, Mrs Webb was a strong swimmer and had enjoyed swimming at the beach every day, except Sundays, for some 17 years. A witness is quoted as saying: “I saw someone in the water. There was a hell of a lot of blood. I then saw the shark circle around the victim, and then in just one big mouth, and not even breaching the water, took her in.” Report by Tim Gillett, News From Abroad Ltd
