Simultaneous strikes see trains, planes cancelled in Germany
There is double trouble for travellers today in Germany.
There is a major airport strike as Lufthansa cabin crew walk out at largest airport Frankfurt with strikes also on rail operator Deutsche Bahn.
Deutsche Bahn said only one in five of long-distance train services are expected to run today.
The Frankfurt airport strike is expected to impact up to 70,000 passengers, with about 600 flights grounded.
The Independent Flight Attendants Organization (UFO) union said the airport strike would affect hundreds of departures from Frankfurt today and flights at Munich tomorrow.
That will represent about 1,000 cancelled flights over two days, it estimates.
The union is calling for a 15% pay increase for its 18,000 cabin crew members.
