Singapore agency closure leaves travellers in the lurch
The sudden closure of a Singapore travel agent at the weekend could impact the travel plans of hundreds of customers.
Staff and customers were left in the lurch after Asia-Euro Holidays abruptly closed and ordered staff to leave early.
A notice was posted outside the Chinatown travel agency and its Facebook page was updated, with the message: "We are sorry to inform you that Asia-Euro Holidays Pte Ltd has closed for business and will stop providing all services with immediate effect."
The travel bookings of up to 500 customers are in jeopardy by the agency’s sudden closure.
The agency advised customers to make a claim on their travel insurance or file a claim at the Small Claims Tribunal.
The company said financial difficulties were caused by huge losses in property investments amounting to $2 million.
Meanwhile another Singapore agency, confusingly called named Euro-Asia Holidays issued a statement saying it is a separate business entity from Asia-Euro Holidays and is operating as normal.
"We are still in business and remain on good credit terms with our customers, as well as our local and overseas suppliers. We are not involved with Asia-Euro Holidays’ investments," the statement said.
