Singapore Airlines 380 arrives in Sydney today

With leaden skies in Sydney this morning and storms forecast this afternoon, Singapore Airlines’ brand spanking new A380 will have to live without Sydney’s classic blue skies as the backdrop for its arrival this afternoon.

With Singapore Airlines the delivery customer for the long delayed and awaited A380, SQ is operating its first commercial A380 flight today and starts fully scheduled flights this Sunday.

The superjumbo will initially fly between Singapore and Sydney and is expected to operate on Singapore to London routes from February.

Singapore Airlines claims the aircraft will set “new standards for luxury and comfort”, fitted with 399 economy seats, 60 business seats and 12 Givenchy-designed “suites” featuring a flat bed.

Singapore has made 19 firm orders, and has an option for six more.

The Mole will be reporting from the A380 arrival this afternoon and Terry Mooney SQ’s PR Officer told The Mole this moring that the weather will not dampen thses historic events with harbour fly over scheduled for 4:45pm and the landing at 5:25pm.
