Singapore Airlines loyalty accounts hit by software bug

Members of Singapore Airlines’ loyalty club have had their personal details compromised because of a software bug.

The personal data of more than 280 KrisFlyer members were accessible to other members logging in to their accounts for a short period at the weekend, the airline said.

Data included flight history and miles transactions were disclosed to other members.

The airline says it was not the work of a hack but an IT issue.

An airline spokesman said: "We have been made aware of a number of cases in which a customer logged in to his or her KrisFlyer account, under certain specific conditions, may have been able to see selective details of another customer.

"We have established that this was a one-off software bug and was not the result of an external party’s breach of our systems or members’ accounts."

It says the bug came after the Singapore Airlines homepage was updated.

It came to light after KrisFlyer member Tricia Leo logged in and could see personal details of a completely different member.

After informing Singapore Airlines she was given a ‘dismissive response’ so took to Facebook to complain

The bug affected a total of 284 KrisFlyer accounts for a 10-hour period before it was fixed.
