Tuesday, 11 Nov, 2015 0
Singapore Airlines has selected SITAONAIR to provide Wi-Fi and mobile data services for its long range fleet.

It will be powered by the latest Inmarsat GX Aviation satellite system which was successfully launched at the end of August offering data speeds of up to 50MBs.

Roll out is scheduled for the second half of 2016.

"Singapore Airlines is one of the most respected carriers in the world. By choosing SITAONAIR services, it clearly demonstrates the superiority of GX Aviation in terms of passenger experience, reliable and global coverage," said Ian Dawkins, CEO of SITAONAIR.

"What is particularly exciting is that this is only the beginning of what we can do with connectivity. The introduction of GX Aviation opens up a whole new world of opportunities for the connected aircraft."

Installation will begin on Singapore Airlines’ B777-300ER aircraft, followed by its fleet of A380-800s and A350-900s.

Part of aviation IT services group SITA, SITAONAIR was established earlier this year and serves 400 airline clients operating a combines 14,000 aircraft.
