Singapore theme park to test Disney-style electronic bands
Following the lead taken by Walt Disney World in the US, Resorts World Sentosa is trialing electronic wristbands which will allow cashless transactions.
The Singapore theme park operator is testing wearable radio frequency identification technology (RFID) tags at Adventure Cove Waterpark before rolling out publicly, but no firm date for this has yet been set.
"These tags will allow our park guests to pay for services including food and drinks, retail products, as well as top-up their admission for marine interaction programmes, said Jason Horkin, vice president of attractions at RWS.
Such RFID technologies will also provide insights into purchase patterns and act as valuable feedback to provide better for guests’ demands," he said.
Singapore Tourism Board is looking into a widespread use of RFID technology at tourist attractions in the Lion City and plans similar large scale trials over the coming months in at least two locations.
