Singapore tops in Asia for association meetings

ICCA, the International Congress and Convention Association has revealed its 2011 Top 20 Rankings for cities and countries,

For the first time, more than 10,000 regularly occurring association events which rotate between at least three countries were identified by ICCA members and ICCA’s in-house research team as having taken place during 2011, 800-plus more than identified a year previously.

The United States dominated the number of meetings per country with 759 meetings in 2011. Germany (577) took second place ahead of Spain (463) and the UK (434).

Australia was 16th in the ICCA list with 204 meetings.

The most popular city for association meetings was Vienna (181 meetings), followed by Paris (174) and Barcelona (150).

Singapore (142) was the star in Asia, finishing in fifth place behind Berlin (147).

No Australian city made the top 20.
