Singaporeans snap up free Hong Kong flights in minutes
The Hong Kong flight giveaway for Singaporeans lasted less than an hour.
All free air tickets to Hong Kong were bagged within 40 minutes on Cathay Pacific’s website.
There was a total of 12,500 free return flights up for grabs.
Many prospective travelers complained of website issues due to the volume of traffic.
To be eligible, people had to be Cathay members and sign in to their account.
The World of Winners Hong Kong flight giveaway is part of Hong Kong’s US$12 million campaign to boost the tourism recovery.
Winners of the tickets must pay the relevant taxes.
The airline was ‘very encouraged by the enthusiastic response.’
“Our website functioned well. We appreciate the understanding of some members who had to queue to enter the site.”
