In 2009, Singapore’s vibrant waterfront will feature a new and magnificent landmark, when Southeast Asia’s first luxury integrated resort, The Marina Bay Sands, [the model of Marina Bay Sands is pictured right] combining state-of-the-art meeting and convention facilities, internationally-renowned restaurants, a five-star hotel and casino, and an unrivalled spread of retail and entertainment outlets in one unique destination, opens its doors to the public.

The Marina Bay Sands is being developed by Marina Bay Sands Pte Ltd, a subsidiary of United States-based Las Vegas Sands Corporation, a leading developer of premium integrated resorts in Asia and the Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions (MICE) industry leader which owns and operates the Venetian Casino Resort and the Sands Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada and the Sands Macao Casino in Macao, China.
It is also currently developing two additional casino resorts, the Palazzo Casino Resort in Las Vegas and the Macao Venetian Casino Resort in Macao.
Las Vegas Sands Corporation is also planning for a major development of numerous resort casino properties in Macao known as the Cotai StripTM, a leisure resort destination on Hengqin Island in The People’s Republic of China and in the U.S., it is planning to develop a hotel-casino complex in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

On-track to be launched in 2009, The Marina Bay Sands will be an icon that all Singaporeans can take pride in and not only that, in addition to an impressive initial investment of more than SGD 5 billion, the development of The Marina Bay Sands will generate significant positive spill-over effects for Singapore’s economy, including an estimated increment of SGD 2.7 billion to Singapore’s annual GDP and the creation of 30,000 jobs by 2015.
George told The Mole, “As a long-term partner of Singapore’s business community, Marina Bay Sands Pte Ltd aims to complement the existing business landscape and contribute significantly to its continued expansion, with the company also focused on raising overall service standards by partnering with government and industry players to establish a larger pool of skilled workers.”

Leveraging Marina Bay Sands Pte Ltd’s global network of established MICE industry players and its spectacular offering of top-class MICE facilities and leisure options, the integrated resort is expected to attract at least 600,000 MICE visitors in its first year of operations in 2010 and in line with Singapore’s industry focus, its MICE offering will meet the needs of key sectors such as banking and finance, infocomm technologies and digital media, biomedical sciences and transportation and logistics.
Marina Bay Sands Pte Ltd is also committed to acting responsibly in the community by investing significantly in social initiatives such as employee skills upgrading and a tailored responsible gaming programme to meet the needs of the local community.
The MICE facilities at The Marina Bay Sands, which will be able to accommodate more than 2,000 exhibition booths and up to 50,000 delegates in over 100,000 square metres (1,000,000 square feet) of flexible convention and exhibition space
The Marina Bay Shoppes, will feature a premium retail mall with a mix of both cutting-edge emerging brands and recognized global labels, an interactive lifestyle wing, stunning water features, an indoor ice skating rink, famed restaurants and waterfront dining

There will be over 2,500 five-star hotel rooms and suites, capped by a distinctive rooftop Sky Park with spas, restaurants, sculptured gardens, swimming pools and an expansive 360-degree view of Singapore’s cityscape
The Marina Bay Sands will incorporate Singapore’s first casino, with the exclusive Paiza Club for elite guests and a fine-dining arena of restaurants helmed by eminent international star chefs
Two fully-equipped, leading-edge theatres, will host acclaimed Broadway musicals, Bollywood extravaganzas and gala events.
