Singapore’s NATAS travel fair cancelled
Trade group the National Association of Travel Agents Singapore (NATAS) has postponed its upcoming travel fair due to the coronavirus outbreak.
NATAS Travel 2020 fair, which was to take place at Singapore Expo from February 21 to 23, has now been pushed back to the start of May.
There had been concerns from exhibitors that the turnout would be much reduced, said NATAS president Steven Ler.
The twice a year NATAS fairs get up to 110,000 visitors a year.
There were about 90 trade exhibitors, including travel agencies, hotels and airlines booked for this month’s event.
Exhibitor Dynasty Travel welcomed the postponement.
"At this juncture of the virus crisis, it is certainly not timely to stage a travel event," Dynasty’s director of PR and communications, Alicia Seah told Channel news Asia.
A major international aviation conference due to be held just before next week’s Singapore Air Show has also been cancelled.
The Singapore Airshow Aviation Leadership Summit 2020 will be scrapped this year, said organiser Experia Events.
However the main event, Asia’s largest aviation industry gathering, will go ahead.
