SITA unveils Health Protect data sharing solution
Aviation tech company SITA has announced the launch of Health Protect – an industry-wide solution, to enable the sharing of health tests or vaccination data between airlines, airports, governments, and passenger screening agencies.
Health Protect has undergone successful trials with travellers to the UAE, and will soon roll out at Milan’s Malpensa Airport.
It can integrate various travel pass or ‘health passport’ schemes currently in development or being used.
In early February, a small group of travellers to the UAE tested the health data platform in collaboration with the SimplyGo app.
"We’re excited for the potential of SITA Health Protect to bridge the gap between airlines resuming normal operations and governments’ strong focus on keeping control of Covid-19. We believe that SITA can play a key role in enabling a safer, simpler travel experience for passengers," said David Lavorel, CEO of Airports & Borders at SITA.
Health Protect also integrates with existing passenger processing infrastructure at airports by using the SITA Flex touchless passenger monitoring tech.
