Six Flags to manage Illinois water park

Six Flags is expanding its park portfolio with agreement to take over operation of a 43 acre Illinois water park.

Six Flags has sealed a lease agreement with the Rockford Park District Board of Commissioners to operate Magic Waters, which has Illinois’ largest wave pool, a collection of water rides and a lazy river.

"The Rockford Park District has always had a strong culture of collaboration. Partnering with Six Flags means great things for our community and will enhance the experience for local families looking for affordable family fun," said Jay Sandine, Rockford Park District executive director.

Sandine says aligning with the Six Flags brand will likely see an immediate spike in interest, and see enhanced park facilities over time.

"Six Flags will continue to make capital investments in the waterpark, which frees up District resources to invest in our communities’ priorities such as parks, playgrounds, and youth."

Magic Waters will be added to the park admission benefits for Six Flags Gold Season Passes.

"We are excited about the prospect of welcoming Magic Waters to the Six Flags family of parks. This is a fantastic property that complements our theme and waterpark in Gurnee and provides tremendous added value for our Season Passholders and Members," said Six Flags Great America Park president Hank Salemi.
