Six workers test positive for covid-19 at India’s Taj Hotels
India based Taj Hotels says six employees tested positive for covid-19.
The workers at Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in Mumbai tested positive after the company conducted testing of all hotel staff.
The company said about 500 staff members at Mumbai hotels have been tested so far.
In a statement the company said: "We have been proactively ramping up testing for our employees…Those who have tested positive mostly were asymptomatic showing absolutely no signs of illness. However, they were duly hospitalised and others who were in contact with them have immediately been put in quarantine."
"This is in accordance with World Health Organization guidelines," a spokesman from parent company IHCL said.
IHCL has been allocating rooms for medical workers at five Mumbai hotels and is offering rooms for quarantine patients at various hotels.
All employees have been tested at these hotels.
Taj operates hotels and resorts across India, and globally, including the Middle East, South Africa and the UK.
