Skal stands behind Kenya
Skal International has chosen Mombasa as the location for its 2015 World Congress in defiance of the recent deadly terrorist attacks on shoppers in a Nairobi mall.
Delegates at this year’s World Congress held in New York voted overwhelmingly to stand with Kenya against global terrorism.
The organising chairman of the Kenyan bid, Tony Clegg-Butt, spoke of the recent tragic events in Kenya and urged the travel and tourism industry not to be cowed by terrorism, but rather to unite against it.
Skal International held its 2001 World Congress in the US one month after 9/11 and in Australia shortly after the 2002 Bali bombings.
"Kenya is a secure destination as are New York, London, Mumbai, Bali or any other place in our world where terrorism has reared its ugly head," said Clegg-Butt.
Skal International expects more than 1,200 delegates to attend the 2015 congress which will be held over a five-day period in November.
