Ski specialist gives teachers a discount
A ski specialist is offering a 25% discount to teachers in the 2015 school Easter holidays to show its appreciation.
The Chalet Company is also giving a 10% discount to family members and friends of teachers who are on the same booking.
The operator said the offer ‘flies in the face of convention and bucks the trend of price discrimination against snow-loving teachers and their families’.
Co-founder Phil Purdie said: "Everyone knows that teachers don’t get paid enough for what they do, let alone enough to meet the staggering prices they are charged during holiday time, so we wanted to show them our appreciation by offering them a discount for a stay with the Chalet Company during the Easter holidays."
For the week from March 21-28, the Chalet Company is also offering a 2-for-1 lift pass offer for those staying in Chalets l’Ancolie, Phoenix and Les Campanules.
Over 150,000 UK teachers have recently signed a government petition to demand that holiday companies stop pushing up prices during school-holiday time.
It means that the issue must be considered for debate in The House of Commons.
