Skiing hot in Canada
There’s a cold snap in Canada, but the country’s ski resorts are reporting hot activity. And there are indications large numbers of Canadians are looking to the US for their next skiing destination. The Canadian Tourism Commission reports ski resort operators are predicting a “stellar” season all across Canada. The cold weather and lots of snow have helped lead to what operators call optimal conditions. A separate Travelocity.ca report says 75% or three quarters of Canadian respondents plan a ski vacation this winter. Apparently influenced in part by the strong Canadian dollar, 85% of Canadians in the survey said they were looking at ski resorts in the US. The favorite spot: Aspen, Colorado, followed by Vail, Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and Stowe, Vermont.–David Wilkening–
