Sky Travel launches live weather casts

Wednesday, 15 Jul, 2004 0

Sky Travel has linked up with a series of cameras around the world to allow viewers to see weather conditions in various countries.

The channel has teamed up with TELCAST Media Group to offer up to 12 90-minutes broadcasts per day from 65 destinations around the world. The broadcasts also carry data like temperature, wind speed and humidity.

Locations vary from Piccadilly Circus in London to Helsinki.

The broadcasts can now be watched at any time of the day, because from the beginning of July, Sky Travel has been broadcasting 24 hours. The channel said it has received positive feedback from viewers for its travel and celebrity features and has enough interest to transmit around the clock.

Programmes being scheduled in July include a number of reality shows including one that examines the goings-on in aircraft cockpits.

The other two Sky travel channels – Sky Travel Extra and Sky Travel Shop – will continue to broadcast between 06.00 and 01.00.
