Snow-go as bad weather disrupts flights
Travellers on both sides of the Atlantic have been affected by severe winter weather, with strong winds and heavy snow disrupting flight schedules in Europe, the United States and Canada. In the United States, as many as 35 people are believed to have died in two huge storms that have caused chaos across much of the eastern side of the country. With heavy snowfall as far south as the state of Georgia, Delta Air Lines cancelled some 300 flights out of its main hub, Atlanta, while NorthWest Airlines cancelled dozens of services out of Detroit. Meanwhile, in the UK, while the promised “Arctic blast” has taken longer to materialise than predicted by many forecasters, British Airways was still forced to cancel 20 flights yesterday. Passengers are being advised to check the latest situation on the BA website at www.ba.com, or by calling an advice line on 0870 850 9850.
