Sol Melia sambas into Shanghai
SINGAPORE – Sol Melia is bringing some Latino rhythm to China.
It will open the Grand Melia Shanghai in February next year and will launch a major expansion programme in Asia.
Alfonso Romero, area vice president, Sol Melia Asia Pacific, said China, Thailand and former CIS countries were targets for Sol Melia, which is the largest resort hotel chain in the world with 400 hotels in 35 countries.
The hotel group is also looking for opportunities in Vietnam and Singapore.
A new brand Me by Melia, would be rolled out in key cities across the region, Romero added.
He said Sol Melia would be brining a new experience to Shanghai. “We are Latino, we have hot blood. We are taking the music, the food, the culture of Brazil and Cuba to China.â€
